Grew up in Jackson, Ga where she attended school, danced and cheered. At age 3 she began dance classes at Robinson School of Dance (T&K Studios). She attended the school until she was 18 years old where she learned: ballet, tap, jazz, and pointe. Ms. Jelinda graduated from Jackson High School in 2012.
After high school, she attended Clayton State University where she received her Bachelor's in Psychology and Minor in Dance. She was the first to graduate Clayton with a Dance Degree. The Dance minor consisted of ballet, jazz, and modern dancing. Also in college, Jelinda also was apart of Loched in Motion Dance Team. She participated on the team for 2 and a half years performing jazz, hip hop, and majorette styles of dance. During college, she would give back to her old dance school by teaching master classes of lyrical, hip hop, and other dance techniques. When Jelinda was 19 years old, she received a position at Gift of Dance Studio in McDonough, Ga. She taught tap and jazz her first two years. By the time she had graduated college, Jelinda was teaching ballet, tap, jazz, and other genres of dance at Gift of Dance. She also assists with the management of the studio and reception area. After almost 7 years, Jelinda is now teaching ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and choreographing for the competition team to students age 3 to 18. Her competition routines have won a variety of awards especially landing 1st place overall trophies and medals.
In 2017, Jelinda was accepted into Debbie Allen's Summer Dance Intensive. The 2 week intensive taught her ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, African, and modern dance styles. Jelinda has continued her dancing career by traveling for performances and classes. She has taught at a few other studios in the surrounding counties. She is currently still teaching in McDonough at Gift of Dance as well as at H.O.M.E. which is a Fine Arts program for homeschoolers. She is approaching her 3rd year there where she teaches tap and jazz.
Over the years, Jelinda has continued to dance at church, weddings, and other events as well as hosting private lessons, and choreography for church events and weddings.
Opening up this studio has always been her dream. Jelinda wants to offer dance to all ages young and old. She wants everyone to experience all dance genres. Expanding is always great to do. It is what Elevé Dance Studio is all about.
