Jelinda W. Ellis, 29
Jelinda Ellis grew up in Jackson, Ga. At age 3 she began dance classes at Robinson School of Dance (T&K Studios). She was trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and pointe. Jelinda graduated from Jackson High School in 2012.
After high school, she attended Clayton State University where she received her Bachelor's in Psychology and Minor in Dance. She was the first to graduate Clayton with a Dance Degree. The Dance minor consisted of ballet, jazz, and modern dancing. Jelinda also was apart of Loched in Motion Dance Team for 2 years performing jazz, hip hop, and majorette.
During college, she taught dance classes at T&K Studios and Gift of Dance Studio. She taught ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, salsa, and liturgical. She also was a studio and recital assistant for Gift of Dance Studio. Jelinda was a choreographer for the competition team to students age 3 to 13. Her competition routines have won a variety of awards for 1st place, judges' choice, best choreography, and more.
In 2017, Jelinda was accepted into Debbie Allen's Summer Dance Intensive. The 2 week intensive taught her ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, African, and modern dance styles. Jelinda has continued her dancing career by traveling for performances and classes. She has taught at a few other studios in the surrounding counties including Broadway Performing Art Center and H.O.M.E. of Fine Arts program for homeschoolers where she taught choreography, tap, and jazz.
In August 2020, Jelinda was hired as the first dance teacher at McDonough Middle School. She teaches the elements of dance, dance wellness, anatomy, history, ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop.
Over the years, Jelinda has continued to dance at church, weddings, and other events as well as hosting private lessons, and choreography for performers and events. Opening up this studio has always been her dream. She continues to expand Elevé through the community and surrounding areas.
